  DESCRIPTION  
  Pursuant to the Act, the Queensland Government retains the right to use, flow and control of water, but includes the right to control 'overland flow', including water crossing floodplains or water erupting from watercourses. The Act also enshrines the principle of sustainable management of water and provides a single uniform system for the planning, allocation and use of water in Queensland, with the aim of achieving efficient use and sustainable management of water.
