Roads & Maritime Services (RMS)  
  A NSW Government agency constituted by the Transport Legislation Amendment Act 2011 (NSW). RMS merges and replaces the former Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) and NSW Maritime and is part of Transport for New South Wales. It is responsible for promoting road safety and traffic management, driver licensing and vehicle registration within New South Wales. It is also responsible for the maintenance and development of the national highway and state road network in NSW. It provides funding assistance to local councils for regional roads and to a limited extent, for local roads. The Maritime division of RMS is responsible for marine safety, regulation of commercial and recreational boating, waterway infrastructure and property management of harbour foreshores and wetland areas.
